Roll-up Proposals for Annual Planning

I have a client that would like to use proposals for generating annual
planning activities and resource allocation, but we are experiencing the
following limitations:

1. When using Microsoft Project Server 2007 to create proposals, no
roll-up, grouping, or customized view are available. Therefore, a design
issue within the Server system will prevent planning and grouping of projects
so that budgets can be rolled up and reviewed when in the proposal phase.

2. When attempting to create a proposed project using Microsoft Project
2007, tasks are being assigned to the “proposed resourcesâ€, even though the
resource and task is in the proposed stated. The resources are not committed
within the proposal, and they do not appear to affect the resources
“Availability†in reports. However, if the resource “inputs tasks†within
Outlook, reviews task assignment through the Project Web Access Portal, or
reviews assignments within the time tracking section, the “proposed tasks†do
show up as assignments to the resources.

My boss INSISTS that proposals should be able to be rolled-up, but I have
not had any sucess with this.

Has anyone have ideas in rolling up proposals for calculating budget costs
of proposals?

Hi Jesse,

I have to check if the rollup works for proposals, but in regards to the
proposed resources, unfortunatly Project Server 2007 has a bug that displays
also proposed resources. It is therefore not possible to use this function at
present. Lets hope that this is fixed soon.
