Running Office 2008 Setup Assistant Fails (?)

ADDad

Installed Office 2008 successfully on my intel iMac. Did not remove Office 2004. When the Setup Assistant came up, I filled in all the boxes on both sides, pressed continue, and nothing happened.

I repaired permissions and did it again with the same result. I rebooted. Same result. Anybody help??!!!

Can you quit when you get into the Setup Assistant?

Did you have a previous version of Office installed?

Where is your copy of Office installed?

What language of the OS are you running (for example, English)?

What type of machine are you running?

Inside the Microsoft Office 2004 folder there is a folder called Office, and
inside that folder is an item called Microsoft Component Plugin. Please
click on that item and choose Get Info from the File menu. In the dialog
that comes up, please tell me what version number is listed for this file.

This doesn't answer the problem. Although this bug existed in 2004 - it also exists in 2008.
