Save and Publish when to close out of window

Hi...

MS Project Server 2007 with all current patches and server updates

This is a generic type question, but what I need to know is the why or risk
associated.

I was taught don't close out of MS Project Pro until you see the save or if
publishing, publish is complete. So I have told my users. I am now creating
a short cheat sheet type document and I want to explain the risk if they do
close out prior to seeing it say "complete".

So what are the risk/s if a user closes out Project Pro prior to seeing that
the project had saved / and -or / published?

Thanks in advance!

It's all about making sure that you know, as the PM, that the data has
reached and been processed by the queue. If you don't check this, then you
can never be 100%certain that the project has been saved/published.

In addition to Ben's comments, in the early versions of Project 2007, the
queue did not flush correctly when the application was closed from the red X.
This resulted in the project remaining checked out on the server, whilst
checked in on the cache. This was addressed with the infrastructure update,
however I'd still recommend that you advise your users to use file close/exit.
