Is it "normal" that when I do a file>>save_as and choose a currently
named file that I don't get a second window to confirm my choice?
Any way to change this?
Thanks

Don't know what version you are using but in Word 2002/2003 you should
normally get a dialogue asking you if you want to overwrite the existing
file/or if want to save it under another name.
Maybe a detect and repair can solve your problem. You can find it in the
help menu.

I believe this is controlled by the settings in the Recycle Bin Properties.
Right-click on the Recycle Bin and select Properties. Make sure that the
'Display the Delete Confirmation Dialog' is checked.

The only way I can reproduce this (not getting a message that the file
name already exists) is if I've gone to File-Open and navigated to a
different folder. Even if I haven't actually opened a file from that
folder, it's still displayed when I do a File-Save. If the currently
named file isn't in that folder, Word will not give you a warning. Maybe
you have files with the same name but in different folders. Perhaps
doing a search on the name in Windows Explorer or File Manager (or
whatever you usually do) might show up more than one file with the same
name.
