Save Baseline using for selected task option

We have a need to de-scope some work that was in the baseline. But I am not
allow to simply remove the task. I must keep the task in the project file.
I had hope I could just set the cost for those task to zero, select those
task and save the baseline using the “for selected task†option with the
rollup to summary task checked. But the math is not adding up. I change
$30K of scope to $0 but when I save the baseline the new baseline changes by
$37K and I can not figure out why. I only have the task that I set to $0
selected. Any ideas?

Is there some resource or cost assigned to a summary task? That could cause
the issue.

Jack,

Thanks for the reply. You are right, the problem seems to be coming from a
summary task. When I compare the two baselines side by side I see a larger
difference in the a summary task then expected. But when I review the sub
tasks they looks correct. The trouble is I can not find any cost or resource
assigned to that summary task or any thing that could be causing this. Any
hints to try to figure out what is causing the issue. Thanks again.
