Hi noreenm,
Sorry for the delay in replying. Below are more step by step
instructions for working with Jack's Export Hierarchy to Excel macro.
1. Create a copy your project file.
2. Ensure the name of the project file is less than 32 characters or the
macro may fail
3. Open your project file.
4. Choose ALT + F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor (VBE)
5. On the left select VBAProject (Name of your file)
6. Choose Insert > Module to add a module to your project file.
7. Choose Tools > References, scroll the list and make sure the
reference to "Microsoft Excel Object Library" is checked
8. Copy the macro text from Jack's page
(
http://masamiki.com/project/export-hierarchy-to-excel.html) starting
with the 'This module contains macros text all of the way to the end
(Don't get the text "This macros works with Microsoft Project 2000 and
greater)
9.Paste the text into the module you added in step 6
10. Save project
11. Close the VBE to return to your project
12. In your Project in the menu choose Tools > Macro > Macros
13. Find macro which ends in TaskHierarchy
14. Click the Run button
The macro should create an Excel spreadsheet with each task (including
summary tasks) listed. When I ran it, each level of outline in the
project appeared in its own column. Outline level 1 tasks were in
column B, outline level 2 tasks were on column C. The export also
includes Resource names who are assigned, work and actual work.
I hope this does what you need. I hope this helps.

JulieS,
The instructions at this site are too sophisticated for me. Can you
point
me to a resource that is even more click-by-click? thanks

Hello noreenm,
The Save As web page feature is no longer available in Project 2007.
You may save a file as XML, but this will save the raw data only.
You'd
need to create an XML transform to format the data in a "pretty"
fashion.
Fellow MVP Jack Dahlgren has posted on his website a VBA procedure to
export a task list hierarchy from Project to Excel. I haven't had a
chance to test if for Project 2007, but know of no reason why it
shouldn't work. Look for Jack's macro at:
http://masamiki.com/project/macros.htm
Obviously, do this on a copy of a project to test
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thank you for this suggestion. I have only 1 version, 2007,
available.
According to the Product Guide:
Office Project Standard 2007 and Office Project Professional 2007
saves to
file formats including ... Web page.
:
Dear Microsoft Office Project user,
Your requirement is the schedule data needs to exported to webpage
in
Microsoft Office Project 2007.
Though I don't why, this feature is not supported in Microsoft
Office
Project 2007.
I recommend you to save the schedule in Microsoft Office Project
2007
and
open the schedule in Microsoft Office Project 2003. Use the "Save
As"
option
of Microsoft Office Project 2003 to export the data to webpage
(.html).
Please let us know if this helps.

How do you save project to in htm/ web page format? I don't see
it
under
"Save as" as it is in previous versions of MS Project. This is
the
easiest
way to preserve formatting and paste into Excel to share with
people who
don't have Project but need to provide status/ updates. thanks
