saving files using a new template - powerpoint 97

I'm getting the error message "powerpoint found an error
it cannot correct. You should save files, exit and
restart powerpoint". I had taken an already exsisting
presentation and applied a newly saved template to it and
then got this message when I tried saving it as a new
file. How can I fix this? What did I do wrong??

Do you have something like Norton running? Or a default printer?
