Saving files

I've not found an equivalent in Word to WordPerfect's
indication that it has just saved a file ('(unmodified)'
appears after the file name in the uppermost bar). Have I
simply missed the equivalent to this in Word?

There is no equivalent, unfortunately. But Word will not save an unmodified
file.
