Saving in movie formats

Hi,

As far as I can tell, there is a feature that I would
like to see in PowerPoint that doesn't seem to be
available for current versions or advertised for upcoming
ones. I've noticed that movie files can be imported into
PowerPoint as part of a presentation, and I think it
would be cool if the played out timing on a slide show
including movie segments, controlled as it is currently
with arrow keys, could be saved into a movie file format
for use with movie editors. Thus, PowerPoint could be
used as a convenient production tool, not just for
presenting from computers. If at some point such a
feature does become part of PowerPoint, I would like to
see it advertised on the website.

Thanks

Hi

There are two ways to accomplish what you describe.

PowerPoint has File > Make Movie on the File menu. PowerPoint will try to
interpret your presentation and turn it into a QuickTime Movie. This works
best in PowerPoint version X (Macintosh only). Owners of QuickTime Pro
(about $30 from Apple Computer) can then convert the movie to other formats
if desired.

The built-in tool is not always perfect, so in situations where the "Make
Movie" feature doesn't quite capture everything the way you want, you can
use a program that records everything that's on the screen and also capture
the audio while a slide show is playing. Ambrosia software makes just such a
tool. http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/utilities/snapzprox/
