Saving new documents -- extremely slow

For the past couple of months, whenever I go to save a new
document, each steps takes a very long time. (My OS is
Windows XP.) Sometimes I get a message that the system is
not responding, but if I just ignore it, a little while
later, it will complete that step and move on to the
next. At which point, the same thing happens again.
Until, eventually, all the steps are completed. Anybody
out there know what's up?

This is probably a Norton AV issue.
Norton had forgotten to update its Verisign certificate which ran out on the
7th January.
Norton posted a silly suggested fix at
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...nsf&view=docid&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl
A better plan, which will not compromise security, would be to disable the
NAV Office Plug-in. You do so via Norton AV > options > miscellaneous. If
you have not updated Norton AV recently - do so!
