Saving RTF without WMF images?

Is there any way to save a document in RTF format, but
leave the images alone, not converting them to WMF?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jeff,

<somewhat bemused>What would you have the RTF file do with
them? It has to have them in a format it supports? The only
alternative I can imagine would be to LINK (and not save)
them into the document...

I need the RTF to be smaller. I got this off the MS Word
RTF Secifications:
(Talking about picutres)
\emfblip Source of the picture is an EMF (enhanced
metafile).
\pngblip Source of the picture is a PNG.
\jpegblip Source of the picture is a JPEG.

Leading me to believe it is possible to leave the images
as JPEG, or whatever, smaller format. I also found a word
processor called Atlantis that does just that
(unfortunately, it also destroys the formatting of the
forms I'm using, so it is useless to me).

If anyone knows if this is possible in Word, please post.

Thanks,

Hi Jeff,

MS's .DOC format is binary and supports compressed
graphics. RTF is basically a 7bit text format and
the graphics aren't stored in compressed form of
the .DOC file, even when 'encoded'.

Word also may be saving two copies of the graphic
which you can work around with the registry change
here:
