How can I make my settings so I can save all Microsoft Office
documents to my D: drive. At the moment it is saying I do not have
access to this drive when I try to save it to a CD. Please reply in
simple terms as I am still learning about computers.
Simple answer? You don't. You don't say what version Office you're running
(not that it matters), but I am going to assume that the OS is XP as that is
the only one with any form of native CD burning. If you wish to do this (and
I really don't advise it as it's a perfect way to corrupt files) then you
will need to purchase a 3rd-party burning application (Roxio's Easy CD
Creator and Ahead's Nero Burning ROM are the two most popular - I have both,
simply because each has capabilities the other doesn't). Why? Well, writing
to CD, as you would do to a floppy, is known as 'packet writing' and the
native applet has no packet writing capabilities. Once you have bought the
package of your choice, you can install its packet writing applet (InCD in
the case of Nero or Drag-to-Disc for Easy CD) and then save files in the
manner you desire (though, as I stated earlier, I really don't recommend
it).
If you do decide to do it, you *MUST* use rewriteable discs, not write-once,
otherwise you will not be allowed to save changes (as the files will become
read only on a write-once disc).
But, as I said, caveats apply.
