saving word documents

Somehow I think my Word settings are screwed up. Whenever I start a new blank
document and Save As it simply does not save. I have to save it in templates.
How can I fix my Word program to allow me to save as and change the title of
new documents to my desktop or a folder?

How are you creating a new document? It sounds as if Word has gotten stuck
on creating a new template instead of a document.
