Normally you would not show resources over which you have no control. That
said, it is still quite natural to input tasks such as "Customer Reviews
Specification" with a duration. It sure beats explaining why there is a
30day lag between two tasks.
Two ways to look at it - First, use a flag field and set it to "Yes" for
your customer tasks. Assign no resources, only durations. Filter to
Flag1=Yes to show only the customer work. You will have no way to knowhow
many hours a customer wants to spend on their tasks --- that's why they would
have their own Project schedule.
Another way would be use a no cost material resource from the resource
sheet. You could then give your customer a resource usage report.
Personally, we use the first method.
