Search for Flagged Items not working

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

This question was asked before by K, but there never was a solution provided. So let me see if we can get some help this time around.

The custom view labeled flagged is coming up empty. I can see the messages that I have flagged in the 'to do list' view but not in the "Flagged" mail view. In fact, all the predefined custom views are coming up as empty.

I have checked the no other option is selected and I only have one email account - exchange server.

Any help in resolving this issue will be appreciated

Ok finally, figured it out.

And the item that solved it is bizarre beyond belief. Still in the hope that some one might benefit, here is the solution that worked.

Go to entourage preferences -> spotlight -> and make sure that the option 'include entourage items in spotlight search' is checked. And voila! the custom vies start to work. For the love of life, I have no clue why is this so, but that seems to do the trick.

Also, do not hesitate to delete these saved searches in the custom views. The help section warns that once you delete these views you cannot get them back. However, I was successfully able to get all the views and more back ! The process to create these searches, is again, a bit bizarre but at least it works.

Finally, for folks at Microsoft MAC office, can I please suggest to create a 'user manual'? especially for Entourage. It would be good for all the applications, but for Entourage, it is a must !

When you do a Spotlight search in Entourage (top right box) you have the
option to save it as a saved search (same as a custom mail view). I agree
it's not obvious the two are tied together. I'll let Help know to get this
added.

Your messages are never deleted. Saved or custom mail views just show items.
Think of them as alias folders.

I think what Help is referring to is the search itself is not saved.
Obviously you can create it again but you can't retrieve a deleted search.
