Searching within .pdf files

Mercadogs

Hello there:

I was wondering if I could use MS Access 2003 to search within .pdf files,
and return the location(s) within the .pdf files, so that the user will be
able to select one of the returned locations, and then open the .pdf file at
the location retrieved (meaning the exact location within the .pdf file).

Does anyone know if this is possilbe? If so, can you please explain?

Thank you,
Gabriel M.

I use the ActiveX PDF viewer and I do not see that this is possible. You can
view all of the possible functions in the viewer (if that is what you are
using to view your PDF in Access) in the VB editor by selecting View - Object
Browser. I see no function that would do what you want. You can change
pages programmatically but that's all.

You would require a third party PDF Library, compatible with VBA, that
exposes a Search function. There are literally hundreds of PDF libraries
available.

Finally, the task as you describe would require some basic coding skills.
