section break vs page break

Hi there,

I have several rtf files I need to combine them into a single
file (rtf or doc). These rtf files were created by some third party
software. Within each file, pages are separated by a 'section break'
instead of 'page break'. I can combine these files by using 'insert
file' method. My problem is that once the files are combined,
I need to assign a global header and footer for it, if all the
pages are broken by 'page break', I should be able to assign the
header/footer to one page and word will auotmatically populate to
every single pages. But because of the 'section break', I can only
do it manually one by one.

So my quesiton is that is there a way I can convert those 'section break'
to 'page breal'?

Thanks

Johnston

I'm not all that enthusiastic about "Help" since I seem sometimes to have a
lot of trouble formulating my questions but the answer *is* almost always
there!

However, here's the relevant stuff.

You can easily search for and replace special characters and document
elements such as page breaks and tabs.

1. On the Edit menu, click Find or Replace.

2. If you don't see the Special button, click More.

3. In the Find what box, do one of the following:

To choose the item from a list, click Special, and then click the item you
want.

Type a code for the item directly in the Find what box.

4. If you want to replace the item, enter what you want to use as a
replacement in the Replace with box.

5. Click Find Next, Replace, or Replace All.

To cancel a search in progress, press ESC.

Thanks! I thought about find & replace, but didn't know how to
type in 'section break' or 'page break'. I didn't notice that
there is a 'speical' character option :)
