security of sharing notebooks

I want to keep my notebooks synced on my 2 laptops. If i make them shared
does that mean anyone on the network can get at them? i have a wireless
router at home and in my office. I've enable sharing and notebooks sync okay
but are they visible and accessible to everyone else on the network as well?
how do i secure this?

OneNote relies on the underlying security provided by Windows and the
network, and does not provide any additional transport-level security.
If you have an unsecured wireless network, then anyone within wireless
range could potentially read the data, but the same would be true for
all other communications going over your network as well. To secure the
data in your notebooks you'd need to configure the computer they're
stored on to only give you access, and you'd want to use a secure
wireless connection to connect to the server.

Another option is to password-protect all your OneNote sections. OneNote
will encrypt all the content in a password-protected section, so that
noone else could read it without knowing the password, even if the
section is stored on an unsecure server or is accessed over an unsecure
network.

As Ilya has said, the security issue are just the same a with any other
data in your networked system.

In addition to password-protecting the ON notebooks you might work with
the security settings of your network:
Just set the rights for the shared volume to *your* user account.
The "Administrator" would still have access to the volume (unless you'd
make use of the OS' encryption features) but no-one else.

secure my ON notebooks from other authorized network users when i
want to have them shared between my 2 pc's. one pc has xp pro the
other xp home.

As Ilya already said:
Use password protection for the sections you want to keep away from
others.
Just right-click on a section's label in the navigation pane and select
"Password Protection" for the section.
