seeing a hyperlink to a web page

How do I open a hyperlink in Powerpoint and see it IN FRONT of the slide
show, then go back to the slide show without having to escape and start over?

This is only one method -- but try this: Create the
hyperlink using an action button AutoShape (when you
create an action button, right click on it and select
action settings to get the dialog box where you can
create the hyperlink). Then, when you run the show --
click the link ... IE will open to your page. When done
with the website, close the browser and you'll be back in
your show.

Hope that helps.

To what are you hyperlinking? I can't think of a hyperlink that would
play behind the slide show. If you are linking to a Web page or an Office
document, you should be able to either close the document or hit the Back
button to get back to the show. If you are linking to another PowerPoint
presentation, you should be able to quit out of that presentation (by
hitting an End Show button if it is in the presentation or by hitting the
Escape key) and be back at your original show. If you are linking within
a presentation, you will need a link back. If you are linking to a PDF
file, and you are using Adobe Acrobat 7, you are stuck. This is a known
bug, but neither Microsoft nor Adobe is willing to take responsibility
for it.

Are you referring to say, Internet Explorer? If so, it always comes to the
front for me, and then I simple click the BACK button and it closes IE
depositing me back into PP.
