semitransparent shadows become opaque

In a Publisher document I inserted pictures and added semitransparent
shadows to them. Some of the pictures I made transparent as well. However,
in the print preview mode, as well as when printing , all of these
semitransparencies become opaque.

What version of Publisher are you using?
