Send to email recipient for review dimmed

I recently upgraded from Windows ME To XP. had to reinstall Word 2002 and
now I am unable to send a document directly from Word to email recipient (the
Send to Email recipient feature is dimmed or disabled). I use Earthlink as
my email program and did not have this problem before upgrading.
