Send To Problem with Microsoft Word 97

T

Tanya Gal

Good Day,

When I use the send to function in Word 97 (I have Outlook 97 as my email
client), a new email message will open up ok. But, the subject line always
defaults in as FILE: 100000081. Why might this be happening? This happens to
99% of the documents I have saved to my computer.

The only time it does not do it is when I open a new document and then send
it before saving.

I have deleted the nornmal.dot. I have unregistered and re-registered it. I
have created a new profile for the MS Exchange Server and I have replaced the
normal.dot from a computer I know is working. None of this has helped.

Hi Tanya

Are you working in a corporate environment? With a document management
system? If so, try to save a document outside the Doc Management System, if
it will let you do so. And then send it. If that works correctly, then the
DMS is the problem.

The likely cause is that most doc management systems don't actually save the
file under the name you thought you gave it (eg "October Sales Report.doc").
They actually save the file in a big database of files with strange names.
Word and Outlook don't know that, so they report the "real" name of the
file, and not the "nice" name you gave it.

Hope this helps.
