Sending a task from 2007 to 2003 using POP

I am using Outlook 2007 on XP Pro. I sent an assigned task via POP to a user
using Outlook 2003. They cannot accept it. They can send to me, but
something is amiss in the other direction.

They get some odd headers. Looks like a string of characters @mydomain.com,
but it does not arrive in a format that they can accept or decline.

Can someone point me towards a solution? Thank you.
