sending custom contacts via mail merge

Hi there i have created my own custom contact templates with extra fields but
when i try mail merge this i loose the extra fields and it reverts to a
default template. Anybody got any ideas. i am using outlook 2003 to do this

Start the mail merge from Outlook, not Word. The fields need to be defined in the folder. If you can see them in the view, they should work fine.
