Sending in Outlook 2002

I am having problems with Outlook 2002. I am running
Exchange 2000. The problem I am having with a couple of
machines is when they try and send email the mail goes to
the Outbox and stays there until they do a Send/Receive.
Any ideas on what settings I may need to change?
