Sent To Mail recipient as an attachment

I am having an issue with using the "Send To" feature in Microsoft Word 2002
using Windows XP. If I choose "Send To Mail Recipient (As Attachment), I do
get the new message Window but the email itself locks up. I need to force
quit out of the email but I can still keep Outlook running with no issues. Is
there a fix for this? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
