Server has files checked out and I cannot edit them

When I try to edit a file in front page it say
server/username has the file checked out. Though no one is
using the file I deleted the username and have restarted
the server, any ideas ?...

Try turning off Document Check in FP in Tools Web/Site Settings General Tab
