Set Outlook to stay connected, it disconnects 1st time, not 2nd

I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 9300. It came with Win XP installed. I
set-up the Outlook to stay connected(dial-up) after sending and recieveing.
It stayed connected just fine.

I then installed MS Office 2003 Basic.
Now Outlook disconnets after the first dial-up and send/recieve.
I used Tools>Opitions>Mail Set-Up to set Outlook to stay connected.
I clicked OK after making the change.

Now Outlook disconnects after the first dial-up and Send/Recieve yet if I
click on send and recieve, Outlook will stay connected after the second
dial-up, send/recieve.

I want to be able to stay connected after the first dial-up.

Thanks for any help.

This NG is for users of MS Project software. I suggest you look for a
NG that deals with Office/Outlook for your problem. Best of luck!
