Set up "required" formula

P

Petra Nemcova

Hello,

don't you know how can I set up the 'drop-down box' control as required
(with that red asterisk)? I know there is an option "Cannot be blank" in the
box properties (Data tab), but I need to do something different. See an
example below.

Example:
I created form where I put two drop-down boxes: BPO Tower and Service Factory.
Now, can I force the Service Factory drop-down box to be required only when
the users choose the “Human Resources†value in BPO Tower drop-down box?

I know that I can set up a new rule something like:
If BPO Tower is equal to 'Human Resources', then add action "Set a field's
value" (Field = Service Factory drop-down box), but I am not sure about Value
now. I believe I need to insert some specific formula to ensure the Service
Factory drop-down will appear as required field.

Could you please help me with that formula?

Thank you!
Petra

Go to the fields in your data source and their properties.

Go to the validation tab.

There you can set requirements for the field value to be able to submit.

Also as you said you may want to automatically set the value via rules.

You also can add your own rules to the submit to verify the values or else
kick out of the submit process and notify the user.

Can you follow the below steps for your requirement:
1. Go to the second drop down Properties.
2. Click on “Data validation†and click on “Addâ€.
3. Select “Field2†in first drop down and “is equal to†in second drop down
and “Type Text†in third drop down and enter Text â€Human Resource†in the
third field.
4. Enter “Cannot be blank†in Screen tip.
5. Click on “OK†in three windows.

I hope it may help you.
