Settings tabs in e-mail messages

In HTML format, when I hit the TAB key within the body of the message, the
tabs are often placed at different spots - they do not align. Can anyone
help?

Tabs are the wrong tool to use for aligning more than one indent, because the exact appearance will depend on the font in use. A table would be a better choice.

How do I use a table in the body of a message?

If WordMail is your editor, choose Insert | Table. If not, you might consider using it, at least to compose more complex messages.

With a table don't you have to know how many lines you are going to need? I
am typing from a list into an email message and need to align the decimal
points. In Word when you display the ruler, the tab box is just to the left
of the ruler and let's you choose the type of tab to use. In Outlook, I can
display the ruler, but the tab box is not there.

Hi Sue,

I can't change the default 1.27cm tab spacing in my outgoing email messages.
When I follow File> New> Mail Message, the default email format ignores the
1.00cm setting in the Normal paragraph of NormalEmail.dotm.

Regards,
