Setup Files

John

When I do a disk cleanup it shows I have office setup files which I
keep. When I try and change something in office, however, it can't find
the setup files and I have to put the d* disk in again.

What are these files called and where are they? What is the name of the
folder they are in so I can help office setup find them? I've done
searches using office, setup, ms etc. but, I imagine, ms has named them
something weird.

thanks

John

They should be in folder similar to this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp
It is a hidden folder, the files are called Microsoft Office Setup.

Hi John,

The files are the MS OFfice Cache (aka 'Local Installation Source[LIS]).

If the LIS isn't being found it could be damaged or incomplete and you
may need to use the LISTool if a repair of Office doesn't fix the problem.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830168/en-us?FR=1

FWIW, you can also copy the CD to your hard drive and install from
there as another method for having the 'source' files available.

John

Thanks... found them.

Is it ok if I create a folder "Office Setup files" and move them there?
At least I will be able to find them when I need them.

This started when I tried to get word in office to accept speaking input
about 4 days ago. Now I've totally forgotten how to do that or where I
even saw it. Probably in here somewhere.
