Excel 2002, SP-2;
Sharing macros over a local area network;
Using an .xla file, created from an .xls file with zero data, stored o
a shared drive.

It is not necessary to have the .xla file set-up as an add-in i
Tools->Add-Ins->Browse; in fact, I think it is preferable to not us
the add-in feature. Also, the local Microsoft AddIns folder is empty.

What is definitely key is the assignment of individual macros to th
Custom Buttons on the Standard Toolbar. When right-clicking on any o
the Toolbars, selecting Customize, selecting Macros, right-clicking o
any of the Buttons, selecting Assign Macro, the Macro name fiel
appears. Doing a single click on this field removes the reverse video
The format is for the source file for the macro to be surrounded by
single quote mark, then an exclamation mark, then the name of the macr
to be linked to that Custom Button.

When everything is set-up appropriately, it works great! :)

P.S.: Not requiring the add-in to be specified is consistent with th
way that an .xla file is created from an open .xls file in that it is
condition precedent that there not be a check-mark next to the name o
the add-in on the Tools->Add-Ins menu. If there is a check-mark, Exce
considers the add-in to be "open", thus creating a conflict with th
file-save-as-an-add-in procedure.
