Sharing MS Project Server with Other Applications

J

John Webster

I thought I had read that Microsoft recommended not to have another
application on the same server as Project Server/SharePoint Team Services
but I can't seem to find an article that talks about this. There is a lot
of movement to consolidate servers which makes sense on the SQL side, but
does this makes sense on the application side?

Does anyone have some articles on the subject?

John:

There's no specific coverage of application conflicts in the documentation,
but they do exist. For instance, Portal Server and Biz Talk can't be
installed on a machine running STS. In most cases, STS will not install on a
domain controller. Your biggest concern with sharing IIS with other
applications is capacity and performance. Secondarily, other web
applications may have different security requirements.
