Sharing Resources

Hi

I have created a resource pool and have about 9 Plans that I need to
share resources across them all. Now I maybe being dumb here but I
have opened the Resource Pool and then clicked on share resources and
selected the project and the sharer takes precedent, so far ok. Then
I want to open the next plan and link it to my resource pool where the
resource pool takes precedence and so on and so on with the other
plans.

What I am aiming for is that I want to see in the resource pool ALL my
resources available and their useage across all 9 plans, but I can
only seem to see one at a time, is this not possible?

Example I want to see, Finance, Service, Warranty, Rental in my
resource pool as the same people are in all of the above but I can
only seem to see one or the other and not all of them?

Where am I going wrong

Not obvious this one. In the resource pool from the resource usage
view, group first by resource name then by task name (still eternally
indebted to Jan for pointing this out to me).

Hi Muddypaws,

You are on the right track :) You will need to assign the resources to
the tasks in the project. Make sure you save the pool file and the
sharer files. Then, if you open the pool file and go to the Resource
Usage view, you should see the assignments for all resources in all
sharer files.

If you would like to create a file that shows the Task Information (bars
in Gantt chart etc.) open the resource pool with the third option "Open
the pool file read-write and all other sharer files into a new master
project file...." As noted, that will create a consolidated master file
with all tasks from all sharer files. You can then filter, group the
tasks as needed. The Resource Usage view in the master file will also
show you assignments for all resources as well.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I have done all the above successfully but see the detailed tasks and would
like to roll up the information to the projects only - need to visually show
that more resources are required for the projects, how many and when
