Yes, Word is not the tool for this.
There are many good music composition programs. My favorite is Mozart.
It has a free trial version and is reasonably priced. It also has an
active support group with direct access to the author.
Mozart and all the others are frequently discussed on various
music-oriented ngs. The best is probably rec.music.compose.
Others include alt.music.education, rec.music.theory,
rec.music.makers.piano, rec.music.makers.jazz, comp.music.midi, and
alt.music.midi
