Show Top Tier Timescale only?

I guess the answer is obvious ('no') but it is somehow possible to show the
top tier timescale only on a Gantt chart (doubleclick timescale, Timescale
options)?

I have a multi-year projects split where I'd like to show either year,
quarters or months (and a few combinations thereof) depending on the
situation. It would seem that the only possibility to show the years would be
if you show everything (top, middle, bottom tiers) -- which kind of defeats
the purpose as the situations in which you want to show the years are often
the ones in which you exactly desire *not* show a lot of detail...

If it is not possible I suggest MS quickly develops a patch to fix this!

I did not check Project 2003, but in Project 2007 one of the Timescale
Options is Show "One tier (Middle)". Make the middle tier show what you
want (year, quarters, or months ... but "combinations" since only one
possible) seems to be what would achieve your need.

So, I guess answer is indeed "no" because you can't show the top tier,
but you can show the middle tier. And if you show one tier, you can't
show combinations...for that show 2 or 3 tiers.

Suggest you write to Microsoft directly if you want them to make a patch.

There used to be a way to 'flag' a discussion to Microsoft that they should
have a look for a product suggestion -- does that still exist / how does it
work?

If not, where is the best place to post product suggestions?

Perhaps someone from Microsoft looking here. ? I guess I would try:
1. probably somewhere on their website there is a product selection form
2. write a paper letter
3. hobnob with the Microsoft people at the Project Conference in Sept.
