Showing the effect of progress after the Status Date

I am a regular user of planning and scheduling software and only alllow the
use of MS Project for for minor projects or short term schedules.

Can some one explain how I can show the effect of progress on all activity
bars after the status date. I don't want to use the visual Zig Zag lines that
shows me something is late, i want to see the effect of the delay on all
activities after the status date and therfore produce new forecast to
complete dates.

I'm sure there is a simple fix for this as it is a standard plaaning tool.

Thanks

Hi Scooby
Suggest you
-insert a current date in the gantt . Right click in the gantt and select
Current Date and select a standout color and line.
-If all tasks are linked and task default is ASAP, then select an incomplete
task or partly complete task that starts before current date ( and has
downstream dependant tasks) and select the Reschedule Tasks icon from the
Menu Bar. Project will do as it is bid. Experiment also with the Update as
Scheduled icon.
-To see the impact suggest you baseline and change the barsyles to suit.
-To see the impact over a timescale change the current date using Project/
Project Information. Note - not Status Date.
Project works very well in this regard.
Remember the golden rules are:
- link at task level only - not summary
- all tasks to be set up as default type of asap
- suggest default task type as Fixed Duration
- Work = Duration X Units

That's great, thanks for the help. I had worked out a way using modifed
fields and excel but this is obviously far easier.
