Shrink print

I have a document of 100 pages+ that was developed in Word 2002 on an 8.5x11
page format. The final product will be shrunk so each page in Word will fit
on a 5x8 page. All text and graphics will be shrunk and printed by a
commercial printer to fix the final 5x8 format. To see how this final
product might look, I have been asked to print each page of the original Word
document (8.5x11) so it appears in the center of an 8.5x11 sheet of paper but
printed so it only occupies the in the final 5x8 size. This will allow the
bosses to preview the document in-house. All print and graphics must fit
into the 5x8 size when printed on a standard 8.5x11 page. Can you offer a
solution?

The only practical way to do this in current versions of Word is to use the
"2 pages per sheet" option in the Print dialog. This will print two pages
side by side on a landscape page, which will actually give you a better
sense of the result than seeing it in the middle of a sheet. FWIW, it would
be much more practical to produce the document in the final size, increasing
the margins and decreasing the fonts of your current document to give the
desired result. When printed on a 2400 dpi imagesetter (or even a 1200 dpi
desktop printer), this will be quite adequate.
