side window to big window back to side window

the situation:
--I have made a note in the side window
--I close it
--how do i bring it back as a small side window
and
--if i later open it in the large OneNote window how can I bring back to the
small side window so I can "pin it on top" if I want to.

Press F11 or click the Full Page View icon (located after the Help menu
item)

What do you mean by "pin it on top"?

when you open the little side-window, you will see a pin--a thumb tack
pin--clicking on that will "keep that little side window on top" no matter
what other applictions you open. I am aware of the F11 move, but you see, I
want just the opposite---an option to reduce the big page back to the little
side-note.

Let me add--I want to move the content in the big window BACK to the little
window so I can edit it and keep it "on top" of other applications.

F11 is a toggle - it will take you between the two views.

Keep Window on Top pin - this toolbar command icon is also a toggle. It
appears by default on the toolbar in SideView mode. You can add it to the
toolbar in 'Normal' mode via:
Right click Toolbar; Select Customize...; Commands Tab; View Category; find
the Keep Window on Top command and drag up to the required place on your
toolbar.
