To fix the problem in a particular Word document that has this
problem:
1. Open the document in Word 2003.
2. Press Ctrl+A to select all of the text.
3. Click on Format | Paragraph | Line and Page Breaks | uncheck
the "Widow/orphan control" box | OK.
To fix the problem in all future documents, you'll need to
determine which style (Normal, Body Text, etc.) has widow/orphan
control enabled, and modify that style to turn off this feature.
To modify a style:
1. Click on Format | Styles and Formatting.
2. In the list of styles, click on the little black
downward-pointing triangle at the right end of the offending
style name. If you don't see the offending style in the list,
then add it to the list by clicking on Show: Custom | check the
box next to the offending style | OK.
3. Click on Modify | Format | Paragraph | Line and Page Breaks |
uncheck the "Widow/orphan control" box | OK | check the "Add to
Template" box | OK.
4. If you are prompted to save changes to your Normal.dot global
template when you exit Word, say yes.
