How can I insert the "total number of slides" on a slide so that it updates automatically as I add and delete slides (e.g. "slide 4 of 20"). I know how to get "slide 4" but I don't know how to get the "20" to appear on each slide and have it change as the total number of slides changes .

Unfortunately you have to put that value (" of 20") on your Slide Master
when you save the final version of the presentation. PowerPoint doesn't
have a field for total slides.
