slow spooling

When I go to print a large quantity of sheets of the same copy, it takes
forever to spool before it prints. I have Publisher 2007 but I use to have
2003. The 2003 version printed the job right away unless it was a large file.
The job I'm doing is not a large file. Is there any settings that I have to
set?

My only image is a scanned document in black that is 1.92M with a few text
boxes that was placed in using publisher.
It's strange that I can print 1 copy and it is printed right away but if I
print 1000 copies, it take forever to send. It's like it's reading it a 1000
times to send to the printer.

Is your printer driver current? Have you looked at the advanced settings in
your printer's properties?

A document may take a longer time than expected to print or the print spool file
may be larger in Office 2003 or in Office XP

Have you considered creating a PDF and then printing the PDF?

local printer by using Office programs in Windows XP

Do you have all three service packs?

JMac,

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but I am experiencing something
similar. Perhaps another example will help someone provide a simple answer.

I am trying to print business cards. If I print 4 cards (one page), it is a
very fast job. If I print 1000, it appears that Publisher is sending 17 Gigs
to the printer! This is the only program I have ever seen do this. Instead of
sending one page and telling it to print 250 times...It seems to be sending
250 files to the printer...very frustrating. I hope someone can help!

I found that you have to make a PDF for it to print right away. I don't like
that too much because you get slight colour difference sometimes when the job
converts.
This just doesn't make sense because Publisher 2003 didn't have this
problem. I though when you upgrade that things get better?

I don't know why the print is different in 2007. It has frustrated me more than
once. And it isn't really the printer that I have problems with, it is the total
page setup. Hopefully there will be a service pack that will fix all of the
problems.

We have a Publisher person that helped write a book about Publisher 2007, maybe
she has insight.
