Smart tags screw up my printing

P

PatD

I am printing a word document (Office XP pro, Win XP pro) to a Canon PIXMA
iP4000 inkjet, and parts of the document do not print. (I have reinstalled
printer drivers countless times, so it's not that). The document contains a
mixture of text and graphics. Near the top is a date with a smart tag. If I
remove the smart tag and do nothing else whatsoever, when I print the
document the graphiocs and most of the text have disappeared. This is
happening on one out of two PCs on a peer network - the other one prints the
same document OK. Both machines run the same versions of software and have
all the latest updates. The one that prints OK has the printer physically
attached and shares it with the other PC over the network.

What do I do next? I am not keen on a clean install of the machine. Any
advice would be much appreciated.
