SMTP Authentication

Wes

I have a real off the wall problem that I have been
messing with for months and just working around. I've run
out of options and I hope I can get some ideas and
suggestions from this forum.

Let me give you a brief description of the setup. I have a
web site that processes POP and SMTP mail. This site
requires authentication for sending email. It is not a POP
before SMTP type program.

I am using Win 98 and Office 2000. I can receive email
just fine from this site, but when I try to send, I get
Relay Denied, Proper Authentication Required. I have
Outlook set up for this account to Authenticate with the
correct username and password. Case is correct, etc. I've
tried "Use Incoming" settings and "Log on Using" settings.
It still fails.

I can however send email between user accounts on the
site. I can send an email from (e-mail address removed) to
(e-mail address removed), I just can't send an email from
(e-mail address removed) to (e-mail address removed).

I get the same errors when I set up Outlook Express. I get
the same errors when I use Netscape Composer.

But, I just set up Mozilla Thunderbird yesterday and it
will work. I can send and receive email through this
account with Mozilla.

On top of that, I have set up one computer, Win 98, out of
state in Texas, different ISP, using Outlook, Outlook
Express and Netscape and they fail the same error.

I set up 2 computers in Colorado, 1-Win 98 and 1-XP, with
different ISP's using Outlook, Outlook Express and
Netscape and they fail.

I set up 7 other computers at my current location, Win 95,
Win 98, Win 2000, Win xp and they all fail. I haven't
tried Mozilla on any except this one.

The Web Host Tech support has not problem with sending and
receiving email. I quote, " I have tested your setup under
windows nt, 2000, & me. And from our linux desktop
systems. I setup outlook, outlook express, eudora and
mozilla and all of them send mail from your account.

Does anybody have a helping hand they can give. I am at a
loss as to what to do or what to look for.

Thanks sincerely for any help.

Wes
