Sort names & addresses in a merge document

L

Lois Wilson

I typed a list of names in works saved it in my documents,
and now I want to print this list of names in alphabetical
order my surname. I typed like this Wilson, Lois A.
I open the document in works click on the tools menu, and
point to mail merge but the only option that is in black
is open data source the option to filter and sort in in
light grey and will not do anything. Please what am I
doing wrong?

Hi Lois,

You really need to post this in a WORKS newsgroup, as
Word-in-Works can vary significantly, especially where mail
merge is concerned. When you do, be sure to mention the
VERSION of the software involved.

I do have a couple of thoughts, though:

1. Do you only want to SORT this list? If yes, the command
you're looking for is probably in the TABLE menu

2. If you really want to mail merge (combine each entry in
the list of names with a boiler-plate text), then you need to
- save this list
- open a new document
- attach this list as the data source (please address a
Works group for more information)
