Sorting Merged data in Word

How do I sort my merged data alphabetically WITHIN each merged record... ie:
Mr Smith has ordered 10 items, Mrs Smith has ordered 3 items - they each need
letters, and the items ordered need to show alphabetically in the letter.

You need to find a Word newsgroup.
What application are you using for your merge?
