Sorting question

I am trying to sort a column alphabetically but am having trouble with cells that are blank. Actually the cells have a formula in them that make them "appear" blank unless a certain condition is present. I want the ones that appear blank to be at the end of a sort but they go to the top unless I sort in descending order. I don't want to do that. Any ideas? Thanks.

one way using a helper column: Insert the following in B1 (if column A
stores your values)
=IF(A1="",REPT("Z",255),A1)
and sort using this helper column
