Sorting the address book

How can I sort the address book by last name? The only
way I've been able to view it is by first name.

Go into Views/Customize Current View and change the Sort
order there. The default for Address Cards is to sort by
the File As... field. You are probably filing by
FirstName LastName. If you change the sort to LastName it
should work.

You can also change the view to the Phone List and add the
FirstName and LastName columns. Then just change the sort
by clicking on the columns at the top.

Hope that helps.

Hi Eddie,

Goto the properties of the address book and then there you would find the
option to Sort the names according to the First Name Last Name or the Last
Name First Name.

Hope that helps !!!

There is no such option, nor an interface to access "properties" of
Outlook's Address Book.

Depending on your version and mail support mode of Outlook, you can sort the
Outlook Address Book this way (check for your mode on the second line of the
Help menu > About):

97, 98/2000 in Corporate/Workgroup mode:
Tools menu > Services > Highlight the Outlook Address Book service > Click
Properties > Set sort order

98/2000 Internet Mail Only:
Tools menu > Address Book > View menu > Sort by

Outlook 2002/2003:
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there
