Spacing between characters

When some of our PowerPoint users in the office print their notes pages
(PowerPoint 2000) some of the words have spaces in them that should not be
there e.g., "basic" appears as "b asic".

This only happens on some of the printers on the network and not all. Has
anyone seen this problem before? We use HP 4100 and 4250 models.

I've seen it, yes, but I've no idea how to actually fix it because it's so
random. It's irritating and frustrating, I can tell you that! :)
