I recently installed Windows XP Service Pack 2, only to have it crash my
computer, requiring a reinstall of Windows XP (without the Service Pack 2
update this time). Something happened during the reinstall because I'm
getting a specific error message whenever I try to open a file in Microsoft
Word. The message actually comes from Microsoft Works and says:
"Works cannot access one or more required files. The files have been
renamed, deleted, or moved. Try reinstalling works, and then starting the
program again."
After I click "ok" the file ends up opening fine.
So I've tried to reinstall works, but so far I've only gotten as far as it
telling me that it recognizes Explorer running and it needs to be shut down
to continue. Problem is Explorer isn't running when I'm doing this so I'm
kind of stuck.
